Press Release - 5th February 2018

Phoenix Voyages Group, considered as one of the leading Destination Management Companies in Asia, has co-organized for the third time the Ultra Trail of Angkor in partnership with the SDPO (Sport Development Performance Organization). The event took place on the 19th and 20th of January 2018.

In the heart of the archaeological site of Angkor, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, five different races were held in addition to the main 128-kilometer race: The "Bayon Trail" 64 kilometers, the "Angkor Jungle Trail" 32 kilometers, the "Angkor Temple Run" 16 kilometers, the " Angkor Nordic Walking" 16 kilometers, and the new distance this year the "Marathon Trail" 42 kilometers.

This third edition was an unrivalled success, with the participation of nearly 800 runners and walkers from 37 different nations, or almost 300 additional participants compared to the previous year.

The marathon as well as the 64 and 128-kilometer races were qualifying for the prestigious “Ultra Trail du Mont-Blanc” races.

On the podium of the 128-kilometer Ultra Trail of Angkor, the first place was won by the famous French competitor and official sponsor of the third edition, Christophe Le Saux, who finished the race in 14 hours, 15 minutes and 14 seconds. Mr. Edouard George, President of Phoenix Voyages Group and Jean Claude Le Cornec, President of SDPO, presented to the winners of the Ultra Trail their well-deserved trophies.

In parallel with the sport competition, the "Great Humanitarian Walk Monsieur Nez Rouge" took place in the magnificent vestiges of the Khmer era, and the amount raised, Euro 4,300 was donated to three Cambodian NGOs: ABC and Rice, Smiling Hearts School and Care for Cambodia.

At this time, we are delighted to announce that the fourth edition will take place on the 19th and 20th January 2019: see you in Siem Reap for a unique sport adventure in the heart of one of the most beautiful archaeological sites in the world!
