REOPENING OF THE BORDERS:
Laos has lifted COVID-19 Testing for Fully Vaccinated Travelers.
Laos has fully reopened its borders to foreign visitors, allowing fully vaccinated arrivals to enter the country with no requirements of COVID-19 testing and quarantine. This is applied to all visitors arriving by land, air, or water.
Also, fully vaccinated entrants can now travel freely anywhere within Laos without restrictions.
Fully vaccinated travelers entering Laos only need a COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate (2 doses).
Foreign arrivals in Laos, who may become infected with COVID-19 during their trip in Laos, must bear the responsibility for any and all medical costs involved in the treatment.
However, non-vaccinated or partially vaccinated travelers must take a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) not self- antigen test within 48 hours before departure and present the results upon arrival, except for children under 12 years old. Likewise, they are no longer required to have a test upon arrival.
VISAS:
Citizens of countries that have bilateral or unilateral visa waiver agreements with Laos may now enter Laos without the need for a visa.
Citizens of countries that do not have a visa waiver agreement with Laos may now apply for a visa at a Lao Embassy or Consulate abroad or via the e-Visa online system.
However, visa on arrival for all foreign nationals has resumed. Visa fee is 40 US$ (except for Chinese and Vietnamese nationals), when applying for a tourist visa at an international checkpoint.
